Dutch born, I lived in Haarlem until the age of 19, then I moved to Amsterdam to study art history. During my studies I did an Erasmus exchange program and studied in Florence for a few months. I graduated in 1997 in Amsterdam but I had fallen in love with Florence so I decided to come back in 2001 thanks to a research scholarship from the Dutch University Institute of Art in Florence. In 2005, I married a Florentine and started my tour guide career. I enjoy being an art historian and I believe that as a tour guide, one has to know less about art history, but much more about every aspect of this city such as gastronomy, fashion, and music. So combining the two professions is ideal! I love mixing art with other disciplines of culture and seeing people enjoy themselves. The walking tour combined with literature and Italian gastronomy is one of my favorites!

My husband and I booked the Florence Highlights tour and had an amazing time! Our guide Norie was fantastic!! From day one researching tours she answered our questions and offered advice on the best day for us to book to make the most of our time. She guided us around Florence and gave great information on everything we saw (and it was a lot!). She pointed out little details we would have never seen with an audio tour or on our own. Providing not only information on the artistic aspects but putting it in a historical context so we understood the whole picture. She also provided advice on how to proceed with our day and tips on where to get gelato. We were blown away by Florence before the tour and had a greater understanding of the city and its history after the tour ended. We just wish she could be our guide wherever we travel to next! Thank you so much for sharing your time and knowledge with us. You helped us make some beautiful memories that will last a lifetime!
