Walking tour of former imperial residence with traditional strudel demonstration
- WITH
- Orsolya | about the guide
One of the finest examples of baroque architecture, the Schönbrunn Palace was the summer residence for Austrian emperors until 1918. After being picked up from your hotel, this half-day tour begins with a guided visit of the palace. With more than 1,400 rooms, the palace showcases architecture and artefacts spanning more than three centuries. Although you won’t see everything, your guide will tell you more about the history of the magnificent buildings and the Austrian emperors who lived there. In the summer months, you can also hop onto a train that will take you around vast gardens to admire the orangeries, palm house and English-style gardens. While in winter, you’ll stop by the fascinating carriage museum, home to a vast collection of ornate imperial vehicles. Having built up an appetite, it’s time to watch expert bakers preparing delicious apple strudel at the Court Bakery. In this romantic, vaulted cellar in one of the wings of the palace, you will be able to find out exactly how this typical Austrian dessert is made. Afterwards, enjoy a tasting of the baker's strudel creations, accompanied by a cup of authentic Austrian coffee called the Viennese Blend.

I’ve been living in Vienna for 24 years, but originally I was born in Budapest. I fell in love with the city during my studies in Music at the University of Vienna and while I was performing concerts here. I decided to start a new course to become a professional tour guide and since 2003, I have been working as a qualified and a passionate Austrian Tour Guide. I’m fascinated by Vienna's history, its musical heritage and all the romantic places of the city. Did you know that until 1918 Hungary and Austria used to be one country? For me, the fact that I’m Hungarian makes working in Vienna - as a tour guide - even more meaningful. My aim is to impress visitors with the beauty of Vienna, an international, multicultural city where history, imperial heritage and modernity blend together seamlessly. When I’m not working as a music teacher and tour guide, I love nature, excursions, being outside, sport, reading, history and spending time with family and friends. I am very much looking forward to sharing my passion for this magnificent place with you. See You in Vienna!
