- Chris | about the guide
Discover the beautiful Austrian Alps on a day tour in Vienna's countryside. Your guide/chauffeur will lead you in the most charming villages and will tell you about their history. You will start with a stop in the lower Austria's Capital St. Pölten, famous for its Melk Abbey, considered to be the most beautiful in the Alps by the Pope himself. Then, you will drive to the Maria Taferl restaurant, located at the top of the hill, where you will enjoy a lunch with a beautiful view and learn how to prepare a local dessert. Then, you will enjoy a coffee with members of the Hohenberg Family, direct descendants of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie whose assassination at Sarajevo 1914 sparked the First World War. They will share stories and family rememberances with you. In the afternoon, you will embark on a private former customs ship, taking you to Duernstein while cruising on the Danube. There, you will follow your guide for a stroll through the old town before coming back to Vienna with your private minivan.

Born and raised in Vienna, I am a licensed certified guide since 1990. That job just felt obvious to me. Tourism had indeed always been part of my life, as my dad founded one of the very first Vienna sightseeing companies in the 1970s. Passionate about my beautiful city, I love to introduce visitors to history, art, gastronomy and the Jewish history of Vienna. I love to travel and I had a chance to travel a lot thanks to my job. I also enjoy cycling and discovering a city by bike. My favorite tours in Vienna are about Austrian history, the Hapsburg Empire and the city's different historic connections who shaped the city from the past until today…

The tour guide Chris was fantastic and the tour was really great. The fact that we got to meet and have a private tour of the museum with the Count and Countess was unbelievable. Then to top it off we got to meet their mother Princess Anita - all members of the great Habsburg dynasty - that was mind blowing. We had champagne and chatted with 3 members of Royalty. An unforgettable and once in a lifetime experience. Dylan
