- Sebastien | about the guide
A traditional privately-owned Noh theatre opens its doors exclusively for you, for an unforgettable experience. The guests can learn more about this fabulous form of musical drama, its 600-year history and be drawn into its powerful atmosphere, visit backstage and go on stage with the master. Our masters are among the few professionals in Japan who are keeping Noh’s religion unchanged and travel all over the World to share their wonderful art and will also share a private demonstration at the end of the experience. We will customize the experience depending on your interests, for you to approach this mysterious art: spirituality (Noh is related to Gods and spirituality, can also be linked to meditation), fashion (costumes), craft (masks), dance, music (drums and flute), singing, architecture, stories adapted from the absorption of foreign cultures along the Silk Road through history with several themes (Gods, women, Trade, Folklore, Old men, fishermen).
During this experience, you will:
- Attend a lecture about the origin and meaning of Noh,
- Experience the different elements of Noh with a professional
teacher
- Attend a private demonstration by the teacher

Born and raised in Brittany (West part of France), I had always been fascinated by the Japanese traditional culture and the Japanese Work culture. Following the feedback of one of my relatives, a musician who played classical concerts in Japan, I decided to visit and experience Tokyo as a student. Married to a Japanese citizen whose family has been the Grand Master of a Noh theatre school for more than 650 years through 20 generations, I deepened my knowledge of the traditional culture while working in Japanese groups and then as an independent consultant. Now living in Japan with my family and young children, sharing precious time with guests willing to discover the Japanese traditional arts.
