- François | about the guide
This day tour will plunge you into the heart of the Champagne region in north-eastern France, famous, as its name suggests, for its vineyards and Champagne houses. After boarding your private chauffeur-driven vehicle, you’ll be whisked off to your first destination, the Abbaye Saint-Pierre d'Hautvillers. According to legend, this former benediction abbey was founded on the site chosen by a dove in 650. After your guided visit, it will be time to move on to the second stop. Epernay. This city surrounded by vineyards is one of the motors of the wine industry, which has been driving the local economy since the 18th century. It is also home to Moët & Chandon, which possesses one of the largest vineyards in the entire region. After exploring the cellars, you will sample some of the house’s Champagnes under the expert guidance of a professional sommelier. If the weather is on your side, you’ll also be able to enjoy the beautiful historic gardens. An optional lunch will be another opportunity to enjoy the stunning scenery at a handpicked restaurant surrounded by vineyards and exceptional panoramas.

I’m from the northern French town of Douai, but I moved to Paris to finish my art history degree. I worked at the Musée National de la Renaissance and then for antique dealer Jacqueline Boccador before organizing contemporary art exhibitions with art dealer Marc Higonnet. I’ve been a qualified guide since 2011 and enjoy being able to mix my love of the humanities and good food. When I was young, my mother took me to the Musée de la Chartreuse de Douai for an archeology lecture, which I found incredibly beautiful (even if I didn’t understand everything)! Since then, I give lectures and guided tours in the hope of inspiring young – and not so young – people. Given my classical background, I’m particularly fond of the Louvre, the Jacquemart-André, Picasso et Middle Ages museums, as well as the châteaux of Chantilly, Fontainebleau and Chambord.
