On this private day tour, gain an overview of Athens' rich history with an expert guide who will take you in the different jewels of Ancient Greece. You will walk first to the Acropolis, an historical citadel perched on a rocky hill above Athens where you will discover the remains of iconic archaeological sites preserved over the centuries such as the Parthenon, the Érechthéion, the Temple of Athena Niké and the Propylaea gateway. Your guide will tell you about freedom, democracy, philosophy and the other egalitarian values of Ancient Greece as you marvel at the breathtaking views over the capital. Afterwards, you will walk down the hill and head to the Ancient Agora located beneath the northwest part of the Acropolis. This large square used to be the beating heart of the city as well as the market place. You will then head to Plaka, Athens' oldest district filled with historical streets and colorful homes, also known as the neighborhood of the Gods. There, you will venture into the narrow lanes with your guide, passing through lively cafes, restaurants and souvenirs shops. As it will be lunchtime, you will also enjoy a tasting of the Gyro, traditional Greek dish made of cooked meat wrapped in a flatbread. In the afternoon, your private tour will continue in the Acropolis Museum, considered as one of the best museums in the world with its fabulous collection of more than 4,000 objects and artworks, including the sculptures of the Parthenon frieze. Your guide will tell you about the life during the Ancient Greece civilization as you browse the different galleries. Please note: this itinerary can be adapted to suit your needs and interests.

Born in the north of Greece, Athens has been my adoptive city since 15 years. After completing my degree in Archeology at the University of Thessaloniki in 1997, I found a way to combine both my passions for travel and Archeology thanks to the National Tourist Guide School that allowed me to work in excavations while guiding visitors in different parts of Greece. Meeting with new people and sharing with them my knowledge is a very fulfilling experience: every day is unique and filled with new discoveries. My favorite places in Greece include Athens, Delphi, Olympia, and Sounion, as well the Greek Islands. Beside archeological sites, I love guiding in Museums, especially the New Acropolis Museum in Athens. Today I can guide in greek, english, german and spanish. Follow me for a unforgettable guided tour in Athens and discover the secrets behind its historical sites. A personal detail: when I am not guiding, I love reading, another passion of mine.
