Learn about fascinating Greek history and mythology on this private day tour in Athens' best sites and its surroundings. Your private guide will take you first to the Acropolis hill where you will see ancient monuments witnessing the Ancient Greece civilization, such as the Parthenon, most glorious accomplishment built in 447 BC in honor of the goddess Athena, the Temple of Athena Nike and the Propylaea gateway. From the top of the Acropolis, you will see the Ancient Agora (birthplace of democracy in Greece), the Temple of Hephaestus and the Theatre of Herodes Atticus. Leaving the Acropolis, you will board on a comfortable minivan with your chauffeur guide who will drive you across the city center for a panoramic tour of the most important highlights such as the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Panathenaic Stadium (where the first Olympic Games were held in 1896), the Arch of Hadrian, and the Old University and Library, most beautiful neoclassical buildings in Athens. Afterwards, you will enjoy a lunch in one of the traditional greek restaurants in the Old Athens, before hoping back on your private vehicle for a car ride going to Cap Sounion. On your way, you will enjoy the most breathtaking coastal views and have time for plentiful pictures opportunities. Once in Cape Sounion, you will head to the Greek Temple of Poseidon (the god of the sea), a famous archeological site whose remains are perched atop a headland surrounded by three seas. As you visit the temple, your expert guide will tell you about its history, as well as the different greek islands that played an important role in the greek life and culture. Born and raised in Athens, I have always been passionate about the Ancient Greek civilization and mythology. As a child, travelling to different archeological sites with my parents turned my passion into a obvious vocation. Graduated in Archaeology and Art History from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, I also attended the ”Tour Guides’ School of Athens” where I got my guiding license, doubled with a certificate for Translations of Literature and Humanistic Studies from EKEMEL (National Centre of Literature Translation), enabling me to guide in Greek, English and Italian. After guiding in different parts of Greece (Olympia, ancient Messene, Methoni, Koroni, Pylos, Mani), I decided to go back to my beautiful city of Athens to show its treasures to visitors coming from all around the world. Sharing my knowledge with people and immersing them in the true atmosphere of Athens is what makes my job so interesting. Athens is not only an old city living in the past. It is also a vibrant and modern capital where history and traditions blend harmoniously with contemporary innovations. If my favorite theme remains archeology, I enjoy talking as well about everything related to the Greek culture - from gastronomy to economy and everyday life. I also love meeting with children and adapting my tours to their needs using stories and games; it is truly fascinating to discover the city through their eyes.
