- WITH
- Elisabetta | about the guide
During this unique day tour, you will learn about the history of the Venice lagoon and its first inhabited islands, Burano and Murano. Travelling to Burano from Venice boat, you will pass by the beautiful Mazzorbo Island and enjoy a short stroll over the island to see some of the oldest vineyards of Venice which have been recreated by wine producers using some old grapes from the antiquity. Then, you will hop back on a boat and go to Burano, a picturesque fishermen island with colorful houses, boats and workshops where artisans still make the island’s famous lace in keeping with ancient traditions. As you visit the island, you will also enjoy a break with some local cookies and a coffee. Then, leaving Burano, you will head to Torcello island where only 18 people live! One of the very first islands to be inhabited, Torcello used to be a very important centre of wool and salt production during the 15-19th centuries before its activity declined when commerce became focused on the Rialto Market. In Torcello, you will also have the time to explore the Basilica and go up to the bell tower, where you will enjoy an amazing view of the lagoon. You will also enjoy a glass of prosecco in one of the favorite bars of Hemingway in the Locanda Cipriani area.

I was born in Venice where I lived and graduated in Art and History from the Ca' Foscari University. After my studies, I decided to go abroad to practise my languages. I had some family in London so I moved there and worked at the American Express Travel office for almost 10 years during which I also travelled a lot all over the world as part of my job of travel planner. In 2000, after a year in Florida working also in tourism, I came back to Venice as I was missing the Italian weather, food and lifestyle. I also wanted to have a life change so I decided to become a tour guide, a job I am passionate about and that reminds me of the quote “choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”. I love working with visitors of all ages, adapting myself to their needs. And to keep them interested, I always try to mix interesting information with humour. It doesn't matter what you say but how you say it. During my tours, I like to show the true Venice, something deeper than the postcard picture: the Islands of the Lagoon, the baccari, the legends of Venice, the Venetian traditions, the life of Casanova. But also the Veneto region: the Dolomites, the Lake Garda, Padova and Treviso. Despite my age, I remain a permanent student, always curious to learn new things. Besides Venice, my other favourite place are the mountains where I like climbing in the summer and skiing during the winter.
