Bordeaux Half-Day Walking Tour
Discovering key monuments, architecture and wines
- WITH
- Marie | about the guide
This guided walking tour will take you into the heart of the historic center to discover the key monuments and architecture of a city classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The city center, sometimes referred to as “le port de la lune” (Port of the Moon), offers you a generous dose of classical architecture built during the Age of Enlightenment. Playing an important commercial role within the region for over 2,000 years, particularly through its wine industry, Bordeaux is the French city with the most “historic monuments”, after Paris. During your tour, you will admire the Grand Théâtre and its 12 monumental columns, Place de la Bourse and “Mirror of Water”, and the vast Place des Quinconces. As you stroll, your guide will also tell you more about the city’s history and gastronomy (including its wines).

I was born, brought up and studied in Bordeaux. I now live between Bordeaux and Cognac surrounded by vineyards. After taking part in a guided tour of the château de Bonaguil when I was about 15 years old, I remember telling my mother, “I know what I want to do when I’m older! I want to be a tour guide!” I studied tourism at the University of Bordeaux in 2001, obtained my professional guide certification in 2003 and travelled the world, before returning to my beloved home city. Guiding suits my curious and sociable personality - I love meeting people from all over the world. To give you the best guiding experience, I spend hours doing research and hunting out addresses where you’ll meet passionate specialists and fascinating locals. During my tours, you’ll explore the historic center of Bordeaux, its wine regions and small Cognac producers.
