Peter D, private and professional local guide in Amsterdam
LANGUAGES :
Anglais/English, Néerlandais/Dutch
I have lived my whole life in Amsterdam and used to work in finance. When the global financial crisis hit in 2008, I had to find another job. This became a chance to act upon one of my biggest dreams: to show my city to travellers and to become a local tour guide. At the time, I travelled a lot and visited cities with locals, which gave me the idea of doing the same thing here in Amsterdam. Although there are already a lot of professional “history” guides, there aren’t many locals giving visitors insight into everyday life and tips about visiting the city. Although I don’t have an art or history background, I love my city and I know a lot of hidden places that I enjoy sharing. I think of myself as more of a personal travel assistant, and I always tailor my tours to your specific requirements. I recommend spending your first day in Amsterdam with me to find out everything you need to know to make your stay memorable. My aim is to share the best food, drinks and unusual places that are difficult to find without a local. It's about tasting the city with the help of a friendly Amsterdammer. When I’m not guiding, I like to dance, go to the movies, enjoy good food, go out and simply enjoy life. ...read more
Irina, private and professional local guide in Amsterdam & The Hague
LANGUAGES :
Anglais/English, Français/French, Russe/Russian
A native of Moscow, I left Russia 10 years ago at the end of my journalism and French literature studies, to come and live in Paris. Passionate about the French capital, I became a State-licensed guide in Paris, France. After guiding at the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Versailles, Grand-Palais and other Parisian museums and exhibitions, I moved to The Netherlands for family reasons. I now continue to guide in Amsterdam and The Hague. I hold 2 Master’s degrees—in French humanities and journalism, and I continuously expand my knowledge of European art history and history. I’m not a lecturer, though. I strive to provide academic-level tours in a fun and accessible way. I worked for several years in journalism and marketing before I embraced my passion for culture and became a guide. I enjoy the conversational format of a private group, and I’m always happy to adjust the tour to your interests and needs. Another of my favorite activities is hiking that I practice all over the world (Nepal, Ecuador ...). Any of my tours can be given in English, French or Russian languages. ...read more
Peter, private and professional local guide in Amsterdam
LANGUAGES :
Anglais/English, Néerlandais/Dutch
Born in Rotterdam, I lived in Amsterdam with my family between 2 and 12 years old, moving then to Aalsmeer, the flower-capital of Holland where the Floriculture is very developed. As an important part of my family was involved in the flower-industry, it was not a coincidence that I went to horticultural school and horticultural college. After college I left Holland to live in England for 6 months to work in floriculture. I also worked and lived in France for 2 months. When I came back to Holland, I started working at a breeding-company in Gerbera-cut flowers and, as a hobby, I started breeding cut flower-roses. After a few years, I started my own company specializing in Gerbera-cut flowers and developed many well-known new varieties. Many years later, I decided to change my career a little, driving tourists to floricultural destinations amongst other destinations, before I started my own business guiding visitors through Holland's booming floriculture in flower auctions and flower parks such as Keukenhof. I also organise tours to some small old towns like Marken, Volendam, and Edam, and to some cheese markets. I always try to give my guests a good and enjoyable time as most of them are in Holland just for a few days and want to have a memorable experience. ...read more

Tom, private guide for Unique Tours Factory

Eco-tour, flowers tour, photography
LANGUAGES :
Néerlandais/Dutch, Anglais/English
Born and raised in Amsterdam, I travelled the world as a photographer and a travel editor in more than 100 countries before coming back to my true home and becoming a tour guide. Proud of my beautiful city, I wanted to show visitors the true essence of Amsterdam, bringing them to places unknown and inaccessible by the common tourists. My experience as a professional traveler taught me to look at a new city from a different perspective and I decided to transmit this awareness while organising customized private tours: with my companion and collaborator Ana, I founded my own company, a boutique tour company who's adventure started few years ago thanks to the energy of wonderful and passionate guides with rich knowledge and expertise: historians, teachers, journalists and artists aiming to show you the best of the Dutch Capital off the beaten paths in an ecofriendly and fun spirit. Historian and European Modern Age teacher, Ana loves details that make a city or an history unique and memorable. She also knows every inch of Amsterdam and loves telling stories when walking or cycling past the canals, the buildings and the city's highlights such as the Rijksmuseum or Anne Frank's house. As a photographer, I personally enjoy teaching photography technique in Amsterdam and its surroundings while guiding visitors. Discover the city's sustainable gastronomy through a cycling tour, enjoy a photography course focused on colors in the heart of the city or in a tulips field, and learn about flowers in a small and picturesque dutch village. ...read more

Born and raised in Amsterdam, I also lived two years in London, four years in New York City and travelled a lot in Germany. I used to be a professional backgammon and poker player before coming back to my roots and starting my own guiding company, offering tours in English, French, Italian, Spanish, German and Russian. As a professional guide and authentic Amsterdamer, I know my city perfectly and I like to show its hidden gems to visitors. Passionate about architecture and history, I love to organize personalized visits in the Rijksmuseum, bringing to life stories of the past and pointing out the secret details. During my tours, I always try to show the most of Amsterdam's rich art history, which continues to be of great importance to understand the past, and to us, an important theme to study to be inspired for the future. I have a real appetite for knowledge, a strong sense of patriotism and a warm personality to help visitors integrate Amsterdam's authentic atmosphere and culture and enjoy a memorable experience. ...read more
